NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
D1 Drivers' Search - Homestead-Miami Speedway
May 29, 2004 – Homestead, FL – DGTrials fortified its presence in drifting once again at the D1 Driver Search at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, advancing two of its regular drivers to D1 qualifications for the California event to be held later this year. Nomuken of URAS fame and Keiichi Tsuchiya, the venerable “Drift King,” were on hand to judge participants.
The two drift legends decided on a surprise final round, due to tight competition from the American drivers. Of those that made it to the final round, Erik Jacobs, president and CEO of DGTrials was included, as was Vaughn Gittin Jr., a DGTrials veteran and driver for Falken Tire. Gittin, along with frequent DGTrials participant, Tony Schulz, proved themselves to the judges, propelling themselves into D1 qualification spots.
Overall, the East Coast drivers presented stiff competition, thanks in part to the instruction and expertise offered at DGTrials events.
DGTrials was founded in March 2003 to establish drifting and gymkhana as fun, accessible forms of motorsport that test driver skill and control. DGTrials is committed to safety and education; it strives to bring awareness and participation in drifting and gymkhana to the forefront of American motorsport and will always work to expand the sport while supporting the drivers that make drifting and gymkhana exciting to participate in and watch.
